Available help topics on this page:
Finding and keeping articles
How our pages are structured and how you can keep our articles on your computer and print them
Display problems:
Information on different browsers and what your browser should be capable of displaying for our pages
How to quote:

The FHI articles and essays are sorted either chronologically or according to the classical fields of legal history – such as Antiquity, Middle Ages, Early Modern Time, and 19th - 20th Century. Thats why you should use the complete Link in your quotations:

for example:
Ulrich Falk:
In dubio pro amico? Zur Gutachtenpraxis im gemeinen Recht
http://www.forhistiur.de/zitat/0008falk.htm

The filename behind "/zitat/" is composed of the last two ciphers of the year of publication, the month of publication and the family name of the author together with the ending ".htm".

Please note:
The suggested way of quotation has changed due to the move of our site to the new main page http://www.forhistiur.de. Nevertheless, all quotations used before remain valid and executable.

About the articles

Back to top of page

Where are the articles? fhi offers you two directories to enable you to navigate more quickly:
The table of contents will show you our articles sorted by topic.
How can I keep an article? If you prefer saving an article rather than reading it online, you can do one of the following:
  • In addition to the HTML-Version we offer an option to download a printable pdf-version, including footnotes and annotations.
  • Every browser offers you to save a displayed document to disk. It can then be reloaded, read, and printed offline. In order to accomplish this, mark a few lines in the article (as mentioned above) and then select "File" / "Save Frame" or a similar command. Please mind the fact that the article will be saved in HTML format, which requires the browser to be displayed and printed; however, newer versions of the most common word processors support reading HTML by now as well.

Display Problems

How can I improve display? If you get the impression that your screen is too small to display our articles in a readable manner, you can try a few things to fit more text on your screen:
  • Maximize your browser window to full screen. In the upper right corner of your browser window you will probably find a button to do that.
  • Increase the resolution of your display. Please consult the documentation of your operating system in order to accomplish this; we recommend using a higher resolution than standard VGA with 640x400 pixels.
  • Switch off the toolbars at the top of your browser window to increase the available space for the actual pages. With Netscape, use the "Options" menu.
  • You can also reduce the font size that is used to display the text. With Netscape, open "Options" / "General Preferences" / "Fonts".
  • Besides, you can move the borders of the frames within fhi. Simply position your mouse pointer on one of the border lines and drag it to the left or right.
