Our aim | Each period of time has its own means of scientific
communication, each period of time has its own publications – according
to what is technically possible, starting from writing by hand to printing
with lead letters to modern electronic layout. However, until recently paper
has always been used.
Today, regular publications in the field of legal history have become quite unaffordable for most students, scientific beginners and even many libraries, although this may be justified for many reasons. At the end of the 20th century however, one can discover that paper does no longer has to be the only medium for publishing and it will probably not much longer be the most important one. Before even the Internet will be further commercialized, we have decided to open a forum historiae iuris, which shall approach the original ideals of scientific communication. The reason for founding the Internet was indeed mainly to allow better communication, mainly amongst natural scientists. It still offers free access and probably will for a while to come. Reading, publishing and distributing has thus been greatly simplified; the process of transforming to paper what was published is now left to every user himself. With this Internet publication we want to offer a platform mainly (but not limited to) young scientists from all countries; a forum for open and critical discussion while avoiding the malicious tone that sometimes can be found in other publications. |
Our articles | In our publication we focus on legal history, but we will also appreciate articles on historical issues in general or those about economical or social history if there is some connection to legal topics as well. Short summaries of books (such as dissertations) are also welcome. |
Here you can find more information if you would like to publish an article for us. | |
About fhi's structure | In order to allow for a certain lucidity of this publication, we have
decided to structure our table of contents
chronologically and according to the classical fields of legal history –
such as Antiquity, Middle Ages, Early Modern Time, and 19th - 20th Century
- as well.
However, for now we are not planning to also include regular reviews, since we all know that these are typically put behind other work that is more urgent and as a result thereof not very much up to date. So far, publication dates of our articles have been fairly unpredictable, since we do not receive our articles periodically. As a result, we recommend that you either look up our pages from time to time to see if something has changed or use our automatic e-mail notification service, which will notify you automatically and free of charge whenever something new has appeared on our pages. We are very much looking forward to your articles and kindly ask you to inform your colleagues and friends about our publication. |
