Between rationalization and integration: The Estado Integral of the second Spanish republic and its roots in the Weimar Republic.
The constitution of the Second Spanish Republic was the last great democratic project of interwar Europe, the son of the rationalization process of constitutionalism began in 1919 in Weimar. An essential element of this constituent perspective was the overcoming of the traditional conception of sovereignty through a new and different model of territorial government, based on the idea of autonomy. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the deep Spanish-German connections that are at the base of the elaboration of the model of the "Estado Integral" of 1931, laboratory where to find some fundamental pieces of the contemporary multilevel territorial government.
