July 15, 2026

Date: 18-19 March 2027
Location: University of Regensburg / Institute for East European Law, Germany
Application Deadline: 31 July 2026

The Institute for Eastern European Law invites you to an international conference on legal history, focusing on law, statehood and administration in Ukraine between approximately 1900 and 1922. The conference will centre on the question of how legal systems and institutions functioned and transformed during a period of political upheaval – amidst imperial collapse, war and the founding of a new state.

The conference has a transnational and comparative focus and is aimed at researchers in legal history, history, political science and related disciplines at all career stages. Researchers from Ukraine, as well as from Germany, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, are expressly invited to apply.

The call for papers, containing full details on research topics, conference languages and application documents, is available for download below.

Applications should be sent as a single PDF file to office(at)ostrecht.de.
